we had a whole week here of the fire inspection stuff---had the alarms going off in most of the building on my street for a few days (and yes they are very loud and the first one almost gave me a heartattack since I wasnt aware that they were going to start on that part before 8am)...yes missing the last 1/2 hour of sleep is bad (I am usually missing the first hour or so---hubby snoring, so I usually get to sleep when he gets up )
I love to cook, had thought of chef as a career choice (my back had other ideas)....and I learned a lot from my mom, even though her cooking wasnt so good----she did make excellent cookies and cakes and such (xmas we had the whole month of cookie making---ah those were the days!!!!) coooookkkieessss (sorry)
My husband likes to cook, however; his prowess is not so good yet---if he follows a recipe things will usually be ok, if he has to substitute ingredients, no (and we dont let him near chocolate recipes ever)....but he has learned quite a bit about savory cooking......he made some really nice veggies with sauce for our fish dish last week with no recipe! His pasta sauce last night was 4 star (if we had had garlic it would have been 5--but we ran out so only garlic powder was available)...
bleh...need to fix some computer issues today (our webhoster changed a bunch of configurations and managed to ditch our email forwarding completely so now we have to figure out how to use their 'new and improved' system to get that back up and running again...think its time for a new hoster------)
azzer if you click the link you will see--it says 166 for you.. 13th I believe....

My brothers Mac just fritzed out on him the other day. I just laughed at him and then hoped karma wouldn't strike...
My gf can cook. Which is good for him. She swears she is going to try to teach me. Guess I will try to learn at some point lol

Most everyone can learn to bake as it is based upon given formulas, if you can read and comprehend you can do it. Cooking is a little different as it can be a little more creative and means you have to learn how to blend seasonings and such to accomplish something edible. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

i can cook, but i hate it... nothing more displeasing for me to do, and it's not about "woman be in kitchen" thing, it's just, meh. I do however, like preparing the food for some odd reason...
166 posts only?, i've should've had more, if it wasn't for Off-topic rules hehe.
Also, i'm hoping i can get an education as a football expert (soccer) as it's been my dream as a little boy to work with football.

The only creative cooking I can do is with crepes. So easy to make and so easy to add different things for different flavors.
In a distant past I wanted to be a teacher (chemistry, physics, biology or geography/history). Then I realized that I'm not patient enough. So right now studying chemistry and in three years I'll see whether I should focus on environmental, alimentary or cosmetic research.

Yeah, sometime I'm reconsidering becoming a teacher. But 7 years of study to teach teenagers that when the temperature is low then liquid water becomes ice... I won't be able to be that patient (for the first few years I will be, but after, I'll get bored with it).
Also right now, when I see what teenagers are becoming, I feel sorry for the teachers...no 16 y.o. should make more mistakes than there are words in a sentence...or should carry a knife in their backpack... (could go on and on but it'll end being a post way too long xD).

7 years huh? Here it is just 5... but it used to be 4. Though in some states it is 7 because you have to get your degree and then get your teaching certificate.
Soccer announcer huh? I would love to do that but instead by teaching I have a chance to coach soccer, which would be great.
It's true, teachers have to put up with a lot more than people think. Very sad.

France university system : (will just talk about it in general)
3 years for the bachelor's degree
2 more years for the master's degree
3 more years for the PhD
Before to be able to become a teacher (elementary and high school) you needed to have at least a bachelor's degree (in anything, doesn't really matter) then you get a one year preparation for a competitive examination during which you'll learn the basics of teaching plus other things.
If you pass you'll go teach in different schools for different periods for a year, during which your teachers will come and grade you and tell you what you can do to improve (during this year, you are already paid almost 100% of your future salary).
After that year, if not major problem has been reported you become a teacher (elementary or high school, depends on what kind of exam you passed during the first year). And you are assigned to a school based on your choices, your global rank and the school available.
Starting this year, to be able to pass the exam, you need to have a master's degree.
What I find sad in the US is that teachers aren't really paid a lot compared to the amount of work they have. In France they get paid more plus the taxes aren't that bad here, but that's changing...and the new retirement age isn't going to arrange a lot of things... can you imagine a 65 y.o woman teaching a bunch of kids that throw a fit for no apparent reason ? I'm kind of shocked to see how RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up kids in Paris are (couldn't be more glad to not live there ).

I spent 2 years 'teaching' in japan....that was plenty enough for me to decide not to finish up my art ed certification---yes I am not very patient with kids (would rather throw them off the highest building--now you know why I have none of my own)....and cant handle repeating the same instructions over and over again year after year....nope just cant deal with that (had parts of that being a trainer in HR for 2 years).
Still not sure what I want to be....but dealing face to face with people or kids is NOT on my list!

That sounds like a better deal than here. They are raising the retirement age for teachers as well to "save" money. Which is complete bullshit since a 30 year teacher makes as much as 2 or 3 first year teachers. To save money they should really LOWER the retirement age. But of course the rules are made by non-teachers are people who really aren't associated with the school system. Dumb.

yes remember we live in a country where teachers make less than pro-athletes....
If we actually focused on our future generations instead of tossing our money away on stupid pursuits....
but gee, watching pro baseball or football is MUCH more important than teaching our kids, right???????

Teachers make like .1% of what a pro athlete makes. Yes, that is all teachers combined.
A glass of red WINE is healthy for your heart. Not beer.
